The Interdisciplinary Patient Education Committee

Patient education materials are essential to meet the health care needs of our patients. The Interdisciplinary Patient Education Committee (IPEC) is comprised of dedicated clinician representatives from multiple practice areas of the hospital network. The committee reviews, creates, and revises patient education materials to ensure our patients receive the best possible self-care information.

Process for Submitting Patient Education for Approval:

  1. When your department has an idea for patient education, first check the Lexicomp database located on Lexie.  Lexicomp is convenient, current best practice, and ready to print.

  2. If you cannot find what you need, then create a Word document with your patient education information.  Make all final corrections and send your project, including references to the IPEC for review.

  3. Click here to submit to IPEC. The committee will typically complete the content review in 1-2 weeks. Then the final version will be sent back to the owner of the project.

  4. Your last step will be to submit a Marketing request. Click here to submit to Marketing Request.

Marketing will meet with you regarding the design and layout of your project. Finally your project is completed and ready for distribution. If a Spanish version is needed, then a translated version will also be completed. Remember that review and revisions must take place every three years to maintain the standard of current and quality patient education.
